Right now Meis and I are sitting in front of the Coliseum in Rome awaiting the beginning of Simon & Garfunkel live in concert. We are accompanied by 500,000 of our closest friends. Half a million people here sweltering in the August heat. And then over the crowds come a slew of balloons with this tag attached.
This election is about more than the US. Its an issue for the whole world. So I'm doin my duty. GET OUT AND VOTE! Uh, you know, in a couple months and all.
You all remember our fantastic house in Grasse, in the south of France? Well...confession time...it wasn't really ours. You see, we have these amazing friends, Jan and Elizabeth Lodal (and their two rock-star kids Eric and Kirsten). And, well, they bought the house, so technically I guess that means it belongs to them. Either way, we weren't up for a West Side Story rumble or anything so when they came to knock on the door, we graciously vacated. Where was all this going...oh yeah...
I assume everyone has heard of those Nigerian scams perpetrated by email. You know, the ones where you get an email (spam) saying that there is $14,500,000 locked in an account in Nigeria and "all they need" is money for "legal fees" in order to "free up the funds." By fronting a few hundred or thousand dollars for the legal fees, you are promised millions in proceeds. Of course, it's a scam. And sadly many people have fallen for it. But what happens when the best of their scammers meet the best of our scammers? Read on...

I guess all those Ferrari street chases between police and mafia were flashbacks from too much Nintendo...or just wishful thinking.
This is about building a tipi. No, not your ordinary, run-of-the-mill, middle-class American-Indian tipi. We're talking a big tipi. A really big tipi. For those Burners reading this, a tipi the size of our dome. 35' tall. Nearly 100 feet in circumference. The engineering and problem solving were of Toolbox and Tumps-ian levels. Catch up time. Big time. Clearly I've been remiss in keeping you all up to date over the past couple weeks. Blame it on the hippies. Blame it on sparse internet access. Or, as Milli Vanilli would say, "Blame it on the Rain." Whatever. You're going to see a mix of posts over the next week as I catch up on all the hilarity of our trip to the hippie commune outside Urbino in Northeast Italy, photos galore of our awesome time in the Cinque Terre on the Northwest coast of Italy, and our new home-du-jour: Rome! Please pardon the lack of 'temporal linearity' as bomad becomes a detached stream of consciousness, ex post facto.

- Native Costume: Crocodile necklace and very short shorts
Caution: While harmless, this species has been known to shock defenseless prey through a variety of means, including: unsolicited Didgeridoo vibrational back massage, close proximity naked sunbathing, and wild claims of fame as driftwood artist and expert Tipi-builder. If you should encounter this species lurking in the wild, do not accept invitation to "come into the woods with me." Instead report Furgus Lurkus sighting immediately to your nearest Hippie Control Center.

On my summer vacation, I went to a hippie commune in Italy. Its called The Hill That Breathes. They have a cool website (http://www.thehillthatbreathes.com). But when I got there it didn't look like the pictures at all.
